A very hard purple wood from South Africa.
Snake wood
Brosinum guianense (Snakewood). A precious wood, very heavy and extremely hard, used before the use of lead in printing machines. Brown coloured speckled with chocolate and black spotty waves. Its wonderful soft skin is very pleasant to the touch and has a wonderful lustre when polished.
Ash
Fraxinus exelsior. A semi-hard white wood from Europe (exclusive of the Mediterranean area). A very tough wood, widely used in the manufacturing of tool handles and sports equipment.
Azobe
A very hard wood from Africa, it is has a reddy brown colour with a fine white grain.
Baco
A very heavy dense South American wood, greenish brown with a black grain. The grain of this wood has a lightly squared patterned effect . A wood still relatively unknown. Its skin is soft and silky to the touch.
Baya
A very dense wood from Bahia in Brazil, with a very nice polished aspect.

Rosewood
A hard wood from South America decorated with delicate white and pink graining.
Box tree
Buxus sempervirens ( Boxwood). A hard wood from Southern Europe, its colour is close to fresh butter. An excellent wood for turning and sculpting. Its tight skin has a wonderful lustre when polished.
Bubinga
Guibourtia demeusei. A hard African wood, lightly pink with a dark purple red grain. Usually used the manufacturing of cutlery, it has a very soft and smooth touch when polished.

Service tree
This majestic fruit tree produces a very hard, lightly pink wood. Was used to make planer soles and windmill gears.
Doussié
Le doussié est un bois dur qui pousse en Afrique équatoriale, de la Côte d'Ivoire au Mozambique. On l'appelle aussi Edoussié ou Afzelia mais selon les régions de pousse on lui connaît une trentaine d'autres noms. Il est d'un beau brun, doré à rouge pâle, avec parfois des veines sombres.

It is mainly used to make knife handles and musical instruments (the black keys on a piano - Ebony and ivory, live together in perfect harmony). I has a superb rich lustre when polished.

Grenadille
A hard heavy wood from the West Indies, almost completely black in colour with a dark purple grain. When working with this wood, there is a strong smell of red fruits. The wood is finished with a high gloss polish effect.
Hermione, Lafayette's frigate for Freedom
The handle is cut and hand-shaped in oakwood pieces from reconstruction work of LAFAYETTE's frigate HERMIONE, with high quality laser carving showing the frigate, full face, in full sail and wind aft. The model is sold with authenticity certificate and for each knife "Hermione" FAROL transfer 4€ to Association Hermione-Lafayette. "Hermione" is the French frigate on which General Lafayette embarked and brought French help and support to the American insurgents. Since 1997, in Rochefort, town of South West of France where original Hermione was built, a passionated team rebuilds the frigate, with project to sail again from Rochefort to Boston.
Yew
Taxus baccata (Yewtree). A tree much grown in Europe, Asia Minor and the Himalayan Mountains, it produces a hard honey coloured wood with a fine pink grain. It is very strong smelling wood when worked with and is mainly used for making English long bows (Even Robin Hood owned one !) A very decorative wood beacause of its strong growth marks, its tight oily skin shines beautifully when polished.
Ipé
Also called green ebony beacuse when cut, the dust is a shiny yellow-green. A very heavy hard brown wood with fine light lines, it was used to floor 'the French library'. It is very dense and gleams when polished.

Walnut tree
Noyer Juglans A semi-hard wood from Europe, it has a light greyish brown colouring with delicate graining. It polishes beautifully. A wood mainly used in cabinetmaking and for making gun handles.
Olive tree
Oléa Europea (olive-wood), A very hard gold coloured wood with a brown grain from the Mediterranean area. Very decorative, this smelly oily wood is usually used to make small kitchen pieces: bowls, wooden forks and spoons etc.... polishes well.

Padouk
Pterocarpus soyauxii. A salmon pinky red coloured African wood, with age it softens to a pretty purplish brown. Traditionally used for wood turning. A very soft delicate surface when polished.
Pao Amarello
A hard yellow wood from Africa very similar to the that of the Lemon tree.
Thuja
Grows in the Moroccan mountains, we use the roots of this tree. It is a hard grainy wood, soft to the touch with a very delicate perfume.
Violet
A very hard wood from South America with and amazing light and dark purple marking.
Wenge
Milletia laurentii. A hard African wood, a beautiful dark chocolate colour with a milky coffee grain, giving a delicatey leafy design. Commonly used in furniture making, flooring, wood turning etc... When polished, it has a very pleasant silky surface.
